Performing A DSE Compliant Remote Assessment | DSE Assessor Course

Successfully delivering a remote assessment is a lot more challenging than an in-person assessment. You are more reliant on technology, you are limited in your view of the workstation, you can not make the adjustments to equipment yourself, it is harder to communicate the message. KOS Ergonomics have put together a tailored course putting together all our experience in delivering assessments remotely and in-person to guide DSE Assessors how to make the required changes and communicate the message successfully.

Aim

This training course aims to update and increase the knowledge of a VDU / DSE assessor with techniques and skills necessary to perform Remote DSE Assessments in accordance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and HSA's best practice.

Objectives

After completion of the course, you will be able to:

• Perform a remote VDU / DSE risk assessment with the end user
• Learn what information to gather prior to the assessment
• Learn efficient methods for gathering that information
• Evaluate the most suitable technology option for your assessments
• How to format a remote assessment
• Get increased engagement during the remote assessment
• Guide the employee on how to set up the screen.
• Remotely help the user to set up their equipment
• Perform the environmental assessment of the home remotely.
• Ensure that the general use of the equipment is not a source of risk for the employee

The Regulations

• The training covers guidance from European Directive 90/270/EEC to cover all EU countries
• It also covers specifically Irish Regulations. Regulation 72 of the 2007 SHWW regulations states that the employer must:

Course Certificate / Validation

Participants who have successfully completed the course will be issued with a KOS Training Academy VDU / DSE Assessors Course Certificate.

The Trainer:

James Kennedy, Senior Ergonomic Consultant, KOS Ergonomics

James has worked for KOS Ergonomics for five years. KOS has been the leading supplier of ergonomic equipment, furniture, and solutions to the Irish market for more than ten years. James works with some Ireland's top companies helping them to minimise the risk occupational injuries that are becoming more common in an office environment. James has studied Occupational Ergonomics and Occupational Health and Safety, with his main area of expertise in workplace ergonomics; he is a qualified ergonomic assessor and seating assessor. He provides ergonomic training for companies, assessment companies, physiotherapists, and chiropractors. He also gives lectures in ergonomics to physiotherapy students in Trinity College and Royal College of Surgeons.
