What Is A VDU & DSE Assessor Training Course?

VDU stands for "Visual Display Unit" and refers to any type of computer monitor or screen that is used to display visual information.

DSE stands for "Display Screen Equipment" and refers to any equipment which has an alphanumeric or graphic display screen, regardless of the display process involved. This includes computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, as well as other devices such as cash registers and industrial control systems.

Together, VDU and DSE refer to the equipment and technology that employees use in the workplace to view and interact with visual information, such as text and images. The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 is a UK legislation that requires employers to take steps to ensure the health and safety of their employees who use DSE, including providing training and regular workstation assessments.

The aim of this course is to update and increase the knowledge of existing VDU / DSE assessors so they gain a greater understanding of the risks associated with prolonged sedentary behavior and incorrect use of computers so that they will be able to better identify suitable solutions. The course is run by one of KOS Ergonomics’ senior consultants, James Kennedy.

Remote Complaint Course

Successfully delivering a remote assessment is a lot more challenging than an in-person assessment. You are more reliant on technology, you are limited in your view of the workstation, you can not make the adjustments to equipment yourself, it is harder to communicate the message. KOS Ergonomics have put together a tailored course putting together all our experience in delivering assessments remotely and in-person to guide DSE Assessors how to make the required changes and communicate the message successfully.

Aim

This training course aims to update and increase the knowledge of a VDU / DSE assessor with techniques and skills necessary to perform Remote DSE Assessments in accordance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and HSA's best practice.
