Mouse Elbow is the new Tennis Elbow
Mouse Elbow like Tennis Elbow is associated with the way we do certain things, - the way we grip, twist, reach and move our arm and wrist.
Repetitive use of the computer mouse can result in Mouse Elbow.
Movements to avoid when using your mouse;
- simultaneous rotation of the forearm
- bending of your wrist,
- stressful gripping of the mouse along with inward or outward movement of your forearm,
- jerky throwing motions
Rotating, bending, and gripping are particularly more hazardous when done while your arms are extended forward and/or sideways away from your body.
Ergonomic Mice and Ergonomic Keyboards help solve these problems by changing our hand and arm movements when using the mouse and keyboard and reducing the stress on the arm, forearm and wrist.
Some helpful hints to help avoid mouse elbow and other RSI's.
Set up your workstation ergonomically to reduce the need to stretch.
Get up and move around once an hour or so.
Vary between keyboard and mouse tasks and other work.
Use keyboard shortcuts
Act immediately when you feel any warning signs.
