Wrist / Palm Rest on Metal Plate with Elevated Mouse Pad KO28

AR WR Keyb Metal KO28

Elevated Mouse Pad maintains straight wrist postures when using mouse

Ergonomic benefits:

  • The wrist /palm rest reduces carpal tunnel symptoms, tingling, numbness or coldness in hands. The wrist rest helps maintaining neutral wrist postures during inactivity or keystroke avoiding bending of the wrist.

  • Rest and raised mouse pad together do the same also during mousing and periods of that inactivity.

  • Elevated mouse pad combined with rest spreads pressure across a larger area, giveing better support and reducing pressure on the wrists.

  • The palm / wrist rest has optimum level of firmness, neither too soft nor too hard, thus allowing easy wrist and arm movements.

  • The baseplate has a matt metal coating removing distracting reflections.

  • Suitable for the mouse to be positioned left or right of the keyboard. The baseplate allows the keyboard and moust to be used on the desk, on the chair arms or on the lap which allows variations to posture which is ergonomically recommended.

  • Important ergonomic hints

For correct ergonomic use, the wrist / palm rest should be called only a "palm rest" instead of the widely used term "wrist rest".

When typing, your hand heels or palms should be resting on the palm rest but not your wrist, on the rest. If only your wrist is supported on the rest then the pressure underside your wrist can decrease blood circulation and compress the carpal tunnel.

In periods of inactivity without a wrist/palm rest, you would tend to lay your hands on the desk, keeping the fingers on the keyboard which can lead to bad bent wrist positions. Alternatively and even worse, your wrists may rest on the desk edge, a firm surface that will compress the underside of the wrist more. The best thing to do is to support your palms but not your wrists on the rest.

Other than ergonomic benefits

  • When the Wrist / Palm rest is used to fill a corner, you gain extra desk space

  • The raised mouse pad keeps the wrists neutral.

  • The mouse pad can be placed on either side of the keyboard so it is suitable for both for right and left-handed users
